Welcome!

Welcome to Nursery!

At our Nursery, we aim to provide a safe, caring and friendly environment in which your child can develop and learn with confidence and enjoyment and where each child is valued as a unique individual. We endeavour to cater for the differing needs of each child through building positive relationships with the children and their families and through our engaging provision.

We are so lucky at St Anthony’s to have not one but three classroom areas: our indoor classroom, our outdoor classroom and our garden area which are "well resourced, bright and stimulating" (Ofsted 2009). In addition we have access to the school's field and hall where we have lots of fun playing games, doing dance, drama or gymnastics. Once a week, all of the children in Nursery have their own PE lesson with Mr Bromley our specialist PE Teacher.

Mrs Armstrong and Mr Turnbull are our Nursery teachers. Mrs Armstrong teaches in Nursery on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and Mr Turnbull teaches on a Thursday. The children's learning is also supported by Mrs Formosa, our Senior Early Years Educator, Mrs. King, Mrs Harvey and Mrs. Gill who are our learning assistants.

We work hard, in partnership with parents, to make sure that every child feels happy and safe in nursery; helping them to be ready to learn, happy and curious about the world around them!  All nursery learning takes place through play-based activities, sometimes adult led and sometimes child-initiated. The activities are based on the needs and interests of each child and planned using the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. Each week we have a special theme or story- you can find out more in our weekly newsletter (see documents below).

We use Class Dojo to keep parents up to date about what is happening in Nursery each day. We share photographs and videos of the children throughout the day and also use the messages to keep in contact with parents about how much their children are enjoying their time with us.

Would you like to visit?

We welcome visits to our nursery and school. Please contact the school office by phone (01926 428800) or email  (admin3544@welearn365.com) and we will book a visit where you can see what we are up to and whether our setting is right for your child.

You can apply for a place in our Nursery any time after your child's second birthday and they can join our nursery in the September after their third birthday. If you would like to apply, please complete the application form below and return to the school office either by post or email.

What have we been up to:

Summer term: hopefully the sun will shine and we will have lots of learning linked to the better weather with a topic on mini-beasts. We will be reading stories such as “The very hungry caterpillar”, “What the ladybird heard” and “Snail trail”. Sharing stories with the children helps them to learn how to read a story- you can point to the words, talk about the pictures, use vocabulary such as "characters" or "the setting" and ask questions such as "What would you do?" or "What will happen next?" We will also be finding and observing mini-beasts, counting legs, wings and spots, making spiral and symmetrical patterns and much, much more. In RE we will be learning all about the Holy Spirit when we celebrate Pentecost and then learning about different celebrations, in particular weddings. As part of this topic we will be visiting St Peter’s Church and asking parents to send in wedding photos (of their wedding or a wedding they have attended) and perhaps come into Nursery to talk about wedding traditions!
