Hello from St. Anthony's P.T.F.A !
Hello from your PTFA Committee for 2018-19! These are the Committee roles and responsibilities for this school year:
Joint Chairs - Sarah Taylor and Emilie Onyekwe
Secretary - role currently vacant
Joint Treasurers - Harvey Bal and Jinder Flora
Publicity Officer - Susie Rack
Committee Members - Ronan Mitchell, Sandeep Allison, Shalini Chandru
We are the newest volunteers to this long-standing charitable organisation made up of parents whose children attend St. Anthony's Catholic Primary School. Our aim is to raise money to enhance our children's learning experiences and since reforming in 2017 we have banked over £10,000 for the school through our Christmas and Summer Fetes, discos, quiz nights and craft sessions. We are extremely grateful for the generous support we receive from parents and volunteers, and look forward to achieving wonderful things together in the Summer term! Please let us know if you have ideas or talents that might help us!
Next meeting: We will be holding an informal meeting at the New Inn on Wednesday 19 May May at 6pm. We'd love any parents with questions or fundraising ideas to join us.
Our playground gym equipment, which has been paid for by the PTFA has finally arrived! We hope the children will enjoy using the outdoor gym for many years to come - and improve their health and fitness at the same time.
We have also paid for some new play-time sports equipment including skipping ropes and balls. In addition, we are planning to contribute to some sturdy boxes for an outdoor library this year.
Our next big challenge is to help the school raise £20,000 to replace some vital IT equipment. We are sure you can appreciate the enormity of this task and will be grateful for any fund boosting ideas.
Our Easter Bonnet Competition raised over £110 for the school. McColl's of Sydenham generously donated lots of eggs for the winners and Creams gave us a voucher as top prize! Thanks to everyone for entering in to the spirit of it! We also made more than £50 during Laps for Laptops with the help of all our volunteers who helped to run the tuck shop.
Valentines Disco 2019
Over 130 children came along to our Valentines disco in February. They dressed in red, ate hot dogs and had a wonderful time dancing to routines choreographed by Liz England who runs Fit 2 Dance classes. The event and non-uniform day raised over £640 for the school!
Summer Fete July 2018
The teachers vied to become top fundraiser at last year's Fete when they manned a stall per class. Mrs Slater came out on top by raising an impressive £94 with her lucky dip! The children's fantastic efforts coupled with the bouncy castle, BBQ, raffle, bar and games helped us raise more than £1,000. Thank you to all the companies such as Warwick Castle, Birtelli's, the Playfarm and Mr Karting who donated our raffle prizes and to all of you for supporting this event so generously.
One of our Reception parents, Cesar Silva, braved extreme winds and freezing temperatures to summit Ben Nevis, raising £540 for the PTFA. Cesar is a former SAS man and experienced climber who has reached many of the world’s highest peaks, raising money for a variety of charities as he goes. He has dedicated this most recent challenge to raising funds for St Anthony's PTFA and we are very grateful for his efforts on our behalf.
