Following the retirement of our longstanding headteacher at the end of this academic year, the governors, staff and children of St. Anthony’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery, in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Birmingham, are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and inspiring Headteacher from September 2023.


St. Anthony’s Catholic Primary school is a wonderful school, with a great reputation and a highly skilled staff. Our deep sense of family, community and togetherness enable our 233 pupils (including 23 in Nursery) to thrive in a warm and caring environment, built upon a strong Catholic ethos.


We are looking for a Headteacher who:

  • is a practising Catholic with a clear vision and understanding of Catholic education;
  • is an aspirational senior leader, able to lead, motivate and inspire staff, with a clear vision for the future direction of the school;
  • is ambitious for all children and committed to ensuring all children reach their full potential;
  • is passionate about developing teaching & learning, inclusive education and meeting the needs of every child instilling a confidence, so our pupils continue to flourish, try new things and enjoy life in all its fullness;
  • has experience in senior leadership and can continue to develop our talented team of staff and support their development as subject leaders, as we journey to joining a multi-academy;
  • is committed to the mission of the school and nursery, our Catholic Church and the vision of the Archdiocese of Birmingham;
  • can balance resources efficiently and effectively in a way that maximises performance and ensures the financial sustainability of the school;
  • can build on our links with our parish, our parents and the wider community.

Completed CES application form and all other CES supplementary forms should be returned by email to no later than 9.00am on Friday 10th March 2023. Shortlisted candidates will be notified by Tuesday 13th March 2023. Assessments and interviews will take place on Wednesday 22nd & Thursday 23rd March 2023.


This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to all necessary pre-employment checks, including: an enhanced DBS; Prohibition check; Childcare Disqualification (where applicable); qualifications (where applicable); medical fitness; identity and right to work. Shortlisted candidates will be subject to online checks, in line with KCSiE Sept 2022. All applicants will be required to provide two suitable professional references as well as a suitable reference from their parish priest. The successful candidate will be expected to sign the CES contract.
