Welcome to Year 1! 
General Information
Year 1 are taught by Mrs Shepherd from Monday to Wednesday and Mrs Slater on Thursday and Friday. Our Teaching and Learning Assistant is Mrs Hickey and she is in class everyday.
All the children will be heard to read at least once a week, by an adult in school, so it is very important that their book bags (please, no backpacks) and reading books are in school every day. Children will also be heard to read in their Read Write Inc groups. It is extremely important that children are heard to read at home every day. It only has to be a few pages but little and often really is the key!
Our PE days are Monday and Thursday. Children need to have a full PE kit in school every day. PE kit should include shorts or tracksuit bottoms, a white t-shirt or polo shirt and appropriate footwear for both indoor and outdoor PE.
The children get very thirsty and it is important that they bring water in a clean, labelled bottle, each day. They are encouraged to drink throughout the day and to refill their bottles from our filtered water dispenser.
Please, please, please put your child's name on EVERYTHING. It is amazing how easily the children lose or misplace items from their PE kits, their uniforms, their coats, water bottles and even their shoes!
