    THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM

Education at St. Anthony’s School aims to be exciting, stimulating and challenging. We strive to provide for all children a wide range of learning opportunities based upon the local environment, first hand experience, observation and problem solving. The teaching and the work set is matched against the ability, needs, interest and experience of the children. The curriculum includes R.E. and all those subjects that make up the National Curriculum. Modern Foreign Languages is taught in Key Stage 2.

We follow the National Curriculum and Early Learning Goals.

There are three main Key Stages in Primary Education:-

    Early Years Foundation Stage

Nursery: 3 to 4 year olds

Reception: 4 to 5 year olds

    Key Stage 1

    Year 1: 5 to 6 year olds

    Year 2: 6 to 7 year olds

    Key Stage 2

    Year 3: 7 to 8 year olds

    Year 4: 8 to 9 year olds

    Year 5: 9 to 10 year olds

    Year 6: 10 to 11 year olds

    RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

All children from Nursery to Year 6 follow the Birmingham Diocesan RE Scheme “Learning and Growing as the People of God”.

Our R.E. syllabus lends support and is backed up by the various religious celebrations which take place regularly, e.g. School Community Masses, Class Masses and Services, Assemblies, our Lenten and Advent Charity Projects and Daily prayer. We also prepare the children for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist (First Holy Communion) in Year 3 and Confirmation in Year 6.
