Welcome To St. Anthony's P.T.F.A Committee!
Hello from your PTFA Committee for 2017! These are the Committee roles and responsibilities for this school year:
Joint Chairs - Sarah Taylor and Emilie Onyekwe
Secretary - Amanda Swann
Joint Treasurers - Harvey Bal and Jinder Flora
Publicity Officer - Susie Rack
Committee Member - Ronan Mitchell
We are the newest volunteers to this long-standing charitable organisation made up of parents whose children attend St. Anthony's Catholic Primary School. Our main aim is to raise money to provide a great environment for the children to learn in and so far this year we have raised funds through the well attended Valentine's disco and Easter Craft session. We are extremely grateful for the generous support we receive from parents and volunteers, and look forward to achieving wonderful things together in the summer term!
If you have any ideas or talents that could help us then please let us know.
Next meeting: Our AGM is on Monday 18th September at 6pm in school - we welcome any new members, occasional volunteers or bright ideas for raising funds this year!
Our major aim this year is to raise funds towards a new playground to sit outside the year 3 classroom. Now that the old wood has been cleared the stage is set for something new.
Head Mrs McSharry says: “We would really like to collect as much money as possible towards replacing the outdoor play equipment which, we had to have dismantled recently; so please give as generously as possible and if you are a current UK Tax payer please remember to Gift Aid your sponsorship as we will receive an extra 25p on each £1 you donate. As part of the project we will also need to replace the safety surfacing, so the total cost will be approximately £6,000.“ To date we are more than half way towards that target and are hoping that our Summer Fete will raise even more!
We are thrilled that our summer fete in July raised more than £1200, thanks to the generous contributions and support from parents, friends and local businesses. Children and parents enjoyed a BBQ and bar, fairground rides and live dance performances, plus a lively haka from years 5 and 6! Warwickshire Firefighters were in attendance (for educational purposes) and the popular raffle featured fantastic prizes kindly donated by local businesses including Warwick Castle, the Play Farm, Leamington Wine Company, Aubrey Allen, Gary Maxwell photography, Studio 49, JLR and many more! Thanks to everyone for coming along and we hope to put on many more successful events for you over the next year.
Our film night on Wednesday 24th May raised £250! The children tucked into a hotdog and popcorn before enjoying their choice of Angry Birds, Trolls or the Lego Movie.
Ben Nevis Climb
One of our Nursery parents, Cesar Silva, braved extreme winds and freezing temperatures to summit Ben Nevis in mid-February, raising £540 for the PTFA. Cesar is a former SAS man and experienced climber who has reached many of the world’s highest peaks, raising money for a variety of charities as he goes. He has dedicated this most recent challenge to raising funds for St Anthony's PTFA and we are hugely grateful to him for this awesome effort.
Easter Craft Session
We held a post-school Easter crafts afternoon for 50 pupils on Monday 3rd April. The children had great fun making Easter baskets, bunny masks and cards. Have a look at our facebook page for more pics https://www.facebook.com/stanthonyscatholicptfa/
