Being a Governor at St. Anthony's

Dear Parents/Carers,

St Anthony’s Governing Body is a dedicated group of volunteers who meet every half term to share in the leadership and management of our school and its resources. We also have sub-committees, responsible for maintaining and improving the quality of different aspects of the school, which report back to the full Governing Body.

The governors of St Anthony’s have a general responsibility for the leadership of the school but do not take decisions about its day to day running.  Instead, our governing body focuses on three core strategic functions, defined by the Department of Education:

1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;

2. Holding the Head Teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and

3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

As a Catholic school, we are also accountable to the Archdiocese of Birmingham. Our Foundation Governors ensure that the school sustains and develops the Catholic ethos.

We are currently looking for new governors. If you are interested, please read the document below, 'What Does it Mean to be a Governor in Our School' and get in touch. Potential governors and parents are always welcome to look around our school, so that the atmosphere and ethos can be experienced firsthand.

On behalf of the Governing Body of St Anthony’s, thank you for your support.

PAUL HAMILTON

Chair of Governors
