  • Early Years Curriculum

Our Nursery Class follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum which is progressive, building on the skills and knowledge that your child already has. The approach to learning is through structured play-based activities which encourages the child to learn at their own pace and ability. It is designed to be fun but also challenging. Children see play as their 'work'. In Nursery, we make sure that play is purposeful with carefully planned objectives that can be worked towards in a variety of learning situations which have the characteristics of play.

The curriculum is organised into three Prime Areas of learning and development: Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language and Physical Development. There are also four specific areas: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

How to Help your Child Settle at Nursery

    • Talk to them about Nursery and tell them about all of the exciting things that they will do.
    • Have a positive attitude about the change and try not to share your worries or anxiety with them.
    • Look at stories where the characters go to Nursery.
    • Encourage your child to become confident with skills such as putting on their own coat and shoes and using the toilet by themselves.

We hope that your child's time with us will provide them with strong foundations for their future. In partnership with you as parents, we can work towards giving them a positive start to their education, enabling them to fulfil their true, God given, potential.
